it an official ace.
Kennedy began playing golf at age
2 when her father, Steve, gave her
a club for the first time. She came
in third in her division of a youth
tournament at The Links in June.

got more notice, after the story was

Evian Masters gets a
major upgrade
 From the moment the Evian
Masters joined the LPGA schedule
in 2000, Franck Riboud, the chairman and CEO of tournament owner
Danone, has pushed for the event to
become a major championship. Now
he is getting his wish. Beginning in
2013, the event played this week on
the French side of Lake Geneva will
start a five-year rolling contract and
join the Kraft Nabisco Championship,
the U.S. Women’s Open, the Wegmans
LPGA Championship and the Ricoh
Women’s British Open as the tour’s
fifth major.
The decision was not without its
obstacles. The name will be changed
from the Evian Masters to The
Evian Championship. The date will
be moved to the second week of
01Darren Clarke turns in four rock-solid rounds to win the
140th British Open.
When you’ve lost your wife to breast cancer,
Royal St. George’s can’t seem very tough.
02 Clarke joins Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy as Northern
Ireland’s third major champion in 13
months.
If David Feherty isn’t thinking about coming
out of retirement, he ought to be.
03 Phil Mickelson’s final-round charge comes up short, but his
T- 2 is his career best at the Open.
If Clarke can win the championship on his
20th try, there’s still hope for Phil.
04 Dustin Johnson’s (above) Sunday challenge thwarted by
OB second shot on par- 5 14th.
Considering the way he lost the 2010 U. S.
Open and PGA, this mistake seemed almost
mundane.
05 Rory McIlroy finishes lackluster T- 25, then says he doesn’t enjoy
playing in bad weather.
Silly comment. Of course, he was paired on
Sunday with Sergio Garcia.
06 Luke Donald and Lee West- wood become the first 1-2
duo to miss the cut in the same major
championship.
Luckily for them, the British tabloids had
other distractions during Open week.
07 Tiger Woods to play at Notah Begay III’s charity skins game in
August.
The sooner Woods starts playing golf, the
sooner we can stop talking about his other
problems.
08LPGA commissioner Michael Whan confirms Evian Masters
will become LPGA’s fifth major.
The power to designate major status? How
much would Tim Finchem pay to be able to
do that?
09 Jack Wagner holds off Tony Romo at American Century
Celebrity Championship.
Another loss for Charles Barkley? Shocking.
